Cerrado Mineiro Arabica coffee harvest reaches 99% completion
The Arabica coffee harvest has reached 99% completion in properties monitored by the Cooperativa dos Cafeicultores do Cerrado (Expocacer) in the Cerrado Mineiro region.
Processing yields have shown significant efficiency, averaging 455 liters of harvested coffee to produce a 60-kilogram bag, marking one of the best results in recent years. This high yield helps offset costs related to harvesting, drying, and processing by allowing producers to obtain more commercial bags from the same volume of harvested fruit.
The Cerrado Mineiro region includes approximately 4,500 producers across 55 municipalities, covering 255,000 hectares. The region produces an average of 6 million bags annually, representing 12.7% of Brazil's total production, and exports to over 30 countries. The region is also distinguished by the 'Denominação de Origem Cerrado Mineiro', the first recognized designation of origin for coffee in Brazil.
