Cerro de Pasco Resources secures silver and gallium project rights in Peru
Cerro de Pasco Resources has finalized agreements with the Peruvian state-owned company Activos Mineros S.A.C. (AMSAC) to consolidate rights for the Quiulacocha tailings reprocessing project in the Pasco region.
The deal, signed on October 20 following a public auction, involves a total initial payment of US$6.65 million. This sum includes US$3.78 million for the transfer of tailings rights and additional fees for land usage. Through its subsidiary, CDPR Perú, the Canadian mining company has secured long-term usufruct rights for approximately 123.39 hectares of land for up to 30 years. This includes 13 auxiliary facilities and the main dam, though ownership of the land and water treatment infrastructure remains with AMSAC.
The consolidation covers 128.07 hectares of tailings located in the Simón Bolívar district, including areas outside the company’s existing El Metalurgista concession. While the agreement provides the legal foundation for industrial reprocessing, the company must still obtain an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and necessary mining authorizations before operations can begin. Cerro de Pasco Resources assumes all risks regarding the volume, quality, and recoverability of the mineral resources.
