Tierra Mayor celebrates 50 years of winter tourism in Ushuaia
The Tierra Mayor Winter Center in Ushuaia celebrated its 50th anniversary, marking five decades as a pioneer in nature and winter tourism in the province. Founded in 1976 by Antarctic explorer Gustavo Giró Tapper, the complex has been a key site for sports competitions and mountain activities, including cross-country skiing and snowcat tours.
During the anniversary event, the Municipality of Ushuaia presented a recognition plaque to the Giró family for their contribution to the city's tourism, sports, and social development. Officials highlighted how the family's long-term commitment and pioneering vision have helped establish Ushuaia as an international destination for adventure and nature-based experiences.
