Cersanit factory in Ukraine hit by Russian attack
A Russian attack on Ukraine has struck a factory belonging to the Polish company Cersanit SA in the Zhytomyr Oblast. The facility, located in the village of Czyżywka, produces sanitary ceramics and tiles and has operated in Ukraine since 2007. The strike caused a fire at the plant, which was addressed by local firefighters.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the strike on the Polish-owned enterprise, noting that Russian forces have shifted their tactics toward targeting the economy and civilian infrastructure. He stated that in recent days, attacks have also hit an Indian-owned steel mill and an American sunflower oil producer.
In the broader Zhytomyr region, the strikes resulted in at least two deaths following an impact on a grocery store, and damage was reported to gas stations. No casualties were immediately reported specifically from the Cersanit factory fire.
