Ceuta: 12 identified migrants buried after failed repatriation to Morocco

Twelve identified individuals were buried at the Sidi Embarek cemetery in Ceuta following recent migration tragedies. Among the deceased, nine are reported to be victims of the recent tragedy at the Tarajal pier, while three others died under different circumstances.

Reports indicate a dispute regarding the repatriation of the bodies to Morocco. While the deceased had been formally identified through DNA and fingerprints, their families were unable to return the remains to their home country. In one instance, the coffin of Mohamed Said, who died in a hospital after crossing the border, was reportedly brought to the crossing point before the transfer was halted.

Families of the deceased attended the ceremonies in Ceuta to bid farewell to their relatives, including Youssef El Hayti. The burials follow a period of mass arrivals and migratory tragedies in the area, which have resulted in over 90 burials in recent days.
