Ceuta authorities open seven investigations into illegal migrant housing
Authorities in Ceuta have opened seven proceedings against ‘pisos patera’ (overcrowded migrant housing) in areas such as Loma Colmenar, Doctora Soraya, and Polígono Virgen de Africa. Alejandro Ramírez, the Counselor for Environment, Urban Services, and Housing, reported that these actions follow citizen complaints and investigations by the National and Local Police.
One arrest and judicial referral has been recorded so far, with illegal activities generating over 10,000 euros in profit. Officials noted that security forces are currently overwhelmed, and illegal renovations in these properties have posed safety risks to neighbors. The government has indicated that rental contracts may be terminated immediately if necessary.
