Ceuta is experiencing heightened tension following a wave of vandalism and civil unrest. Recent nights have seen intentional fires set to vehicles, containers, and settlements in the city's hills. Local authorities report that emergency calls to 112 have increased by 150% since the mass migration event on July 30. While the Spanish government has completed the triage and vulnerability assessment for 1,120 migrants, officials estimate approximately 9,000 migrants remain in the city.

In response to the situation, the European Commission has announced it will dispatch a technical team to Ceuta by the end of the week to evaluate the conditions on the ground. Spanish officials are also engaging in high-level meetings in Brussels to discuss border security and the ongoing crisis.
