Ceuta healthcare professionals face critical pressure
Healthcare professionals and public workers in Ceuta are facing critical pressure due to a massive influx of migrants. The Organización Médica Colegial (OMC) has expressed concern that the “capacity for sacrifice” shown by doctors to maintain medical assistance cannot become a “permanent resource” for the healthcare system.
Following a visit to the autonomous city, the OMC emphasized that the current situation is unsustainable and requires institutional support to ensure both professional safety and adequate patient care. The organization pledged to continue monitoring the situation to ensure the needs of the healthcare system are not overlooked once immediate pressures subside.
Simultaneously, the UGT-SP Sanidad union has issued a formal recognition of the dedication shown by various public sector workers. This includes medical staff, administrative assistants, maintenance, cleaning, and security personnel, as well as those working in specialized areas like El Trampolín, who are described as essential pillars in maintaining services during these complex circumstances.
