Ceuta hospital reports 95% of migrant emergency visits are for minor ailments
Data from the National Institute of Health Management (INGESA) reveals that 95.04% of the 11,089 migrant patients treated in the Ceuta University Hospital emergency department since late July presented with minor medical conditions.
According to the report, only 550 cases, representing 4.96% of total assistance, were classified within the three highest priority levels of the triage system. This averages approximately six high-priority cases per day. Specifically, 11 patients were categorized as level 1, requiring immediate life-saving attention, while 126 were level 2, and 413 were level 3, involving urgent or potentially serious processes.
To manage the increased demand, health authorities implemented a fast track circuit designed to resolve low-complexity cases more quickly. This system aims to prevent minor cases from consuming resources intended for high-priority patients. Additional measures include staff reinforcements and improved coordination between health devices to adapt care capacity to the migratory situation.
