Ceuta migrant death and arrests in illegal settlement
A Moroccan migrant died on Friday afternoon in an illegal settlement located at the former Fábrica del Guano in Ceuta, near the Trampolín beach. Emergency services from 061 arrived at the scene after being alerted by other migrants, but resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.
The National Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of death, with preliminary indications suggesting it may have been accidental or due to natural causes, pending an autopsy. The settlement, where approximately 3,000 Moroccan migrants reside, includes government-installed showers near where the individual was found.
In a separate incident at the same settlement on Thursday night, police arrested three Moroccan migrants for the alleged unlawful detention of two minors. The minors were transported to the Ceuta University Hospital for medical evaluation. Additionally, a third person required medical attention after being allegedly assaulted with a frying pan during the incident.
