Ceuta migration crisis: Judge demands declassification of intelligence reports

National Court Judge María Tardón has requested the Spanish government to urgently declassify intelligence reports from the National Intelligence Centre (CNI) regarding the mass irregular migration into Ceuta on July 30 and 31. The judge has given the Council of Ministers a 15-day deadline to provide these documents, which include notes on the actions of Moroccan authorities and communications with Moroccan intelligence services.

The investigation seeks to determine which Spanish officials were aware of the planned mass entry and when they received the warnings. Judge Tardón argues that the requested information is essential to clarify the facts and does not jeopardize state security, as the security of the state was already compromised by the event itself.

Testimonies from Moroccan citizens and Spanish police officers have suggested that Moroccan security forces and high-ranking officials may have organized waves of migrants to facilitate the crossing. Additionally, the Spanish Ministry of the Interior stated it received no intelligence reports anticipating a mass entry of this magnitude prior to July 30.
