Félix Bolaños denies Morocco's involvement in Ceuta migrant surge

Spanish Justice Minister Félix Bolaños has denied allegations that the Moroccan government orchestrated the mass influx of approximately 70,000 migrants into the Spanish city of Ceuta in late July. Speaking before the Congress of Deputies, Bolaños stated, “there is no evidence whatsoever that Morocco led or instigated the mass entry of people,” and criticized opposition parties, including the People's Party and Vox, for spreading unproven suspicions.

Bolaños defended the necessity of maintaining cooperative relations with Morocco and asserted that the Spanish government lacked precise prior information regarding the scale of the migration event. He emphasized that Ceuta and Melilla are integral parts of Spain, while noting that bilateral contacts with Morocco have not involved disputes over the sovereignty of these territories. The minister's comments have drawn criticism from opponents who argue the administration is failing to protect national interests and border integrity.
