Ceuta faces migration crisis as irregular arrivals surge
The Spanish enclave of Ceuta is facing a severe humanitarian and security crisis following a massive influx of migrants from Morocco. Authorities report that irregular land arrivals have increased by 191.1% compared to the same period in 2025, with over 5,000 entries recorded between January and mid-August, excluding the major surge in late July.
Recent security operations in Morocco resulted in the arrest of 294 migrants and 61 alleged facilitators attempting to reach the border. Despite these crackdowns, thousands of migrants remain in Ceuta, with local officials estimating between 5,000 and 9,000 people still in the city.
