Ceuta police and migrant camp facilities face criticism over conditions

The police union JUPOL has denounced the living conditions of national police officers deployed to Ceuta. The union released images and videos comparing the facilities provided to officers with those set up for migrants following mass arrivals in late July. JUPOL claims that officers are sleeping on deteriorated, stained mattresses and pillows with visible moisture, describing the situation as “absolutely third-world” and demanding urgent solutions for dignified conditions.

Simultaneously, sanitation issues have emerged at the Trampolín beach migrant camp. Despite daily intensive cleaning efforts, the public toilets installed by the government to provide dignified reception for migrants are reportedly in a state of constant decay. Cleaning staff must use personal protective equipment (PPE) to manage extreme filth, including excrement and accumulated waste, as the facilities quickly return to unsanitary conditions due to intensive use.
