Ceuta migration crisis: 864 migrants relocated amid surge in violence

Ceuta is experiencing heightened tension due to a surge in migration and a series of violent incidents. On Sunday morning, the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations coordinated a humanitarian operation to relocate 864 migrants from the Loma Colmenar settlement to a new temporary facility in the Los Rosales neighborhood. The transfer was reported as voluntary and without major incidents. This move is part of a broader government effort to increase temporary accommodation capacity in the city to over 6,000 places to reduce the presence of people in public spaces.

Parallel to these institutional efforts, the city saw a wave of violence during the night. National Police reported eight arrests following two separate incidents involving robberies and assaults on minors at the Chorrillo esplanade and the Tarajal area. Additionally, a stabbing occurred at Trampolín beach, and another fight near the Temporary Stay Center for Immigrants (CETI) resulted in an injury. Authorities also detained a Moroccan national for the illegal possession of a large machete and an extensible baton. These events have intensified local debates regarding public security and the management of the ongoing migration crisis.
