Ceuta Prosecutor seeks recusal in cases against Government Delegate
The Ceuta Prosecutor's Office has formally requested to recuse itself from legal proceedings involving the Government Delegate, Miguel Ángel Pérez Triano. The request follows complaints filed by the associations Manos Limpias and Hazte Oír, as well as the political party Vox, regarding the management of a mass migration event in late July.
The complaints allege that the handling of the influx, which involved more than 80,000 people, may constitute crimes such as malfeasance, failure to prosecute crimes, denial of assistance, and homicide or injury through gross negligence.
The Prosecutor's Office argues that these specific allegations are not isolated incidents but are part of the same operational context currently being investigated by Magistrate María Tardón in the National Court. The prosecution maintains that the actions of the Government Delegate are directly linked to the broader events and require a unified examination of all authorities involved in the July migration surge.
