Ceuta: Registration of 600 minors suspended due to chaos
An attempt to register more than 600 migrant minors in the Príncipe Alfonso neighborhood of Ceuta was suspended due to overcrowding and disorder at the local sports center. The operation was triggered by a commitment from the Minister of Youth and Children, Sira Rego, to register the minors and transfer them to reception centers immediately.
The high turnout, exceeding 600 adolescents, made it impossible for authorities to manage access, individual attention, or security guarantees. To prevent further chaos, officials canceled the session at the sports facility.
A new strategy is being developed to complete the registrations more discreetly. This proposal involves transporting small groups of minors to the National Police Headquarters in stages, prioritizing those aged 13 to 15. Minister Rego has committed to mediating with the National Police to implement this alternative method.
