Ceuta reports severe overcrowding and zero deportations
Three months after a massive influx of migrants in late July, local officials in Ceuta report that the situation remains critical. According to regional counselors Alberto Gaitán and Alejandro Ramírez, no administrative deportations have been carried out, and no minors have been repatriated.
The city is facing a severe crisis in child welfare facilities. Currently, 3,626 minors are being hosted in resources managed by the city, representing an overcapacity of 12,400 percent, as the ordinary capacity is only 29 places. To manage this, the city has activated 22 different resources, including twelve created since August 1.
Regarding the general migrant population, officials report that 7,500 people are housed in camps established by the central government as of October 31. However, it is estimated that an additional 3,000 to 4,000 people remain without official accommodation, with approximately 400 to 500 minors potentially still living on the streets.
