Ceuta resident sentenced for hiding immigrants in residential property
A 21-year-old man from Ceuta has been sentenced to one year in prison for aiding illegal immigration. The individual used a relative's property on the Benítez road to hide seven immigrants, including two minors.
According to judicial authorities, the man reportedly earned more than 3,000 euros by facilitating the stay of individuals who entered Ceuta in late July. Because the defendant has no prior criminal record, the one-year sentence has been suspended, though any future offenses would result in imprisonment. National Police investigations highlighted the ongoing issue of ‘pisos patera’—residential properties used to conceal migrants to avoid official control.
