CFE announces 2.4 billion peso investment in Campeche electrical infrastructure
The Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) and the Governor of Campeche, Layda Sansores, have announced the ‘Energía para el Bienestar’ program, involving an investment exceeding 2.4 billion pesos to modernize the state's electrical infrastructure. The initiative includes 882 planned works aimed at improving coverage, distribution, and service quality.
Key components of the plan include 24 modernization projects for distribution networks scheduled between 2025 and 2029, totaling 627 million pesos. These works focus on replacing transformers and protection lines. Additionally, a 110-kilometer line between Isla del Carmen and Puerto Real, costing over 180 million pesos, is 96% complete and expected to begin operations on November 11.
CFE Director General Emilia Calleja Alor reported that service interruptions in Campeche decreased by 5% between January and July 2026. The investment strategy aims to achieve 99.99% electrical coverage in the state by 2028.
