Mexico advances energy infrastructure and climate resilience

Mexico is seeing diverse developments in energy infrastructure and climate adaptation. In Campeche, CFE Calificados is incorporating the La Esperanza Solar project, developed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, which features a photovoltaic plant integrated with a 750 MWh energy storage system to support clean energy supply.

In San Luis Potosí, the state government and the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) have established an agenda to improve electrification and infrastructure across four regions to support urban and industrial growth. Meanwhile, in Tamaulipas, the Secretary of Energy Development reported 250 power supply interruptions since May, primarily caused by vegetation and wildlife interference.

In Mexico City, SEDEMA and WRI México are collaborating through the Cool Cities Lab to use data for designing climate policies aimed at mitigating extreme heat and increasing urban resilience.

Localized power disruptions have also been reported due to maintenance, including scheduled cuts in Jalisco and Lagos de Puente Moreno.
