Despite recent rainfall replenishing reservoirs, experts highlight systemic issues, noting that 40% to 50% of water from the Lerma-Cutzamala system is lost to leaks in the Valley of Mexico. There are ongoing calls for long-term investment, technological integration, and improved efficiency in the agricultural sector, which utilizes 76% of the nation's water.
