CFE addresses grid stability, outages, and environmental concerns in Mexico

The Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) is addressing various operational and infrastructure issues across Mexico. In Tijuana, the utility has denied forecasts suggesting a potential electrical grid collapse by 2028, asserting that infrastructure projects are on track and that recent outages are being addressed through new transmission lines and subestations.

In other regions, CFE is managing localized service disruptions and environmental concerns. A scheduled maintenance outage is set for Progreso, Yucatán, affecting several coastal municipalities. In Guerrero, the company performed dredging and water flow restoration at the Petacalco Bar to support local fishing activities following tropical storms.

However, the utility faces criticism in areas like Nava, Coahuila, where residents report heavy ash and soot accumulation from coal-fired power plants. Additionally, reports of extortion by CFE contractors in some areas and frequent blackouts in Tijuana continue to impact local communities and businesses.
