CFE schedules major power outages in Morelos and restores service after substation fire in Cancún

The Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) announced a planned suspension of electrical service on Friday, June 19, 2026, across several neighborhoods in the state of Morelos. The outage, expected to last six to eight hours, will affect residential and commercial customers in Cuernavaca’s Lomas de Ahuatlán, Rancho Cortés, Vista Hermosa colonies and in Yautepec’s Oaxtepec and Cocoyoc areas. The maintenance aims to install new high‑voltage transformers and reinforce the grid ahead of higher summer demand.

Separately, on the night of June 17, 2026, a fire broke out at CFE’s Canek substation in region 96 of Cancún, Quintana Roo. Emergency crews extinguished the blaze after several hours and the utility reported that power was fully restored to users in the municipality of Benito Juárez. The incident was attributed to damage to equipment within the substation, which is still under inspection.
