CFE schedules six‑hour power outage for eight communities in Yucatán

The Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) announced a temporary suspension of electricity on Thursday, 2 July, to perform maintenance on a power transformer in the town of Tahmek, eastern Yucatán. The outage will run from 08:00 to 14:00 and will affect eight localities – Hoctún, Hocabá, Sanahcat, Xocchel, Seyé, Holactún, Tahmek and Xtabay – across six municipalities.

Residents were advised to disconnect electronic devices, keep refrigerators closed and charge phones in advance. The CFE said the work is part of preventive maintenance to improve service reliability and that supply will be restored once the work is completed, possibly earlier if finished ahead of schedule.
