CFMoto prepares 550MT following 450MT sales success

Following the significant market success of the CFMoto 450MT, particularly in Italy where it ranked in the top 10 for 2025, the Chinese manufacturer is developing the 550MT. The 450MT has proven highly competitive, selling over 2,300 units in Italy in 2025 and maintaining a strong presence in the first half of 2026 despite a lower price point than established models like the Honda Africa Twin or BMW R 1300 GS.

The upcoming 550MT is expected to feature an increase in displacement to approximately 549 cm³, utilizing a parallel twin engine with a 270-degree phase. While the unrestricted version may exceed 50 CV, European A2 license regulations will likely limit output to approximately 44 CV. The primary advantage of the larger engine is expected to be improved low-end torque, beneficial for long-distance travel with passengers or luggage.

Technical specifications are expected to include a steel trellis frame, KYB adjustable suspensions with 200 mm of travel, and 21/18-inch spoked wheels. Key upgrades over its predecessor may focus on touring comfort and technology, including a reinforced rear subframe, denser seat padding, a redesigned windscreen, and a curved TFT display with integrated navigation and T-Box connectivity for over-the-air software updates.
