CFR Cluj ordered to pay over 100,000 euros in player compensation

CFR Cluj has been ordered by the Cluj Specialized Tribunal to pay a total of 107,688.16 euros in compensation to two former players, Andre Campos Moreira and Bruno Xavier Almeida Carvalho Costa. The ruling follows the unilateral termination of their contracts by the club's judicial administrator, Răzvan Zăvăleanu, shortly after the club entered insolvency proceedings on August 20.

The court rejected the players' attempts to annul the contract terminations but ruled that they are entitled to damages. Moreira is owed 43,333.33 euros, while Costa is to receive 64,354.83 euros.

Despite the legal setback, the termination of these contracts may provide long-term financial relief for the club. Both Portuguese players had signed two-year deals with significant monthly salaries: Moreira earned 10,500 euros net and Costa earned 15,500 euros net. Over a 24-month period, their combined salaries would have totaled approximately 624,000 euros.
