CGIBS leaders visit OECD to discuss tax reform
Flávio César Mendes de Oliveira, president of the Goods and Services Tax Management Committee (CGIBS), and Vice-President Pricilla Maria Santana participated in an institutional mission to the OECD in Paris. The mission, organized by the Inter-American Development Bank in coordination with the OECD, took place on September 15 and 17.
The agenda focused on discussing international experiences with Value Added Tax (VAT) and the challenges of modernizing tax administrations to support Brazil's Consumption Tax Reform. Key topics included fiscal sustainability, public governance, digital transformation, tax credit management, destination-based taxation, system integration, and simplifying taxpayer obligations.
According to Flávio César, engaging with the 38 member countries of the OECD allows Brazilian representatives to learn from established practices and anticipate difficulties during the implementation of the IBS (Goods and Services Tax).
