CGT delegation to meet Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican

A delegation from the Argentine General Confederation of Labor (CGT) is scheduled to hold a private audience with Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican on September 12. During this meeting, union leaders intend to request a personal encounter with the Pope during his planned visit to Argentina in November. The delegation plans to discuss the current situation of workers and the impact of government measures implemented by President Javier Milei.

In preparation for the papal visit, the Argentine Ministry of Security has established three Unified Federal Commands in Buenos Aires, Córdoba, and the Buenos Aires-Luján-Claypole region to ensure public order and security.

Additionally, the CGT and the Diocese of Chascomús will host a public lecture on September 22 in Chascomús. The event will feature CGT Co-Secretary General Cristian Jerónimo and Bishop Juan Ignacio Liébana, focusing on the Pope’s encyclical ‘Magnifica Humanitas,’ which addresses the ethical challenges of artificial intelligence and the protection of human dignity.
