Chaco authorities arrest three men linked to cigarette smuggling

Authorities in Chaco, Argentina, arrested three men from the Formosa province following a preventive operation at Puesto Lavalle. The suspects were intercepted while traveling in a Toyota Hilux heading toward Formosa.

Police reported that the occupants exhibited nervous behavior and provided inconsistent statements. Investigators noted that the suspects' clothing contained traces of dense vegetation and the vehicle showed signs of recent travel on unpaved or rural roads, suggesting recent presence in wild areas. This follows an investigation into the escape and subsequent seizure of an illegal cigarette shipment near Pampa del Indio. Following consultation with the Federal Prosecutor's Office of Presidencia Roque Sáenz Peña, authorities ordered the detention of the three men and the seizure of the vehicle and their mobile phones.
