Chaco solar parks supply 183,700 homes and reduce carbon emissions
A research study conducted by the Faculty of Engineering at the Universidad Nacional del Nordeste (UNNE) has detailed the progress and environmental impact of solar energy in the Chaco province. Currently, four operational solar parks provide 255 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity, which is estimated to supply approximately 183,700 homes.
According to data from developers DQD Energy and MSU Green Energy, these operational parks help prevent the emission of roughly 305,900 tons of carbon dioxide annually. The largest single project is located in Pampa del Infierno, featuring 220,300 solar panels and 130 MW of capacity, accounting for more than half of the province's current operational solar power.
The investigation also identified seven additional projects in various stages of development. When including both operational and projected facilities, the total capacity of the eleven identified projects reaches 390 MW. The research aims to provide technical-scientific data to map renewable energy experiences and their contribution to energy supply and emission reduction in the region.
