Resistencia Bienal 2026 attracts 95,000 visitors, sparks art donation and anti‑extortion patrols

The seventh day of the Bienal Internacional de Esculturas 2026 in Resistencia, Chaco, recorded attendance of more than 95,000 people. Governor Leandro Zdero toured the venue, greeting artists and highlighting the event as a cultural‑tourism asset. The program featured open‑air sculpture work, musical performances by Viento Norte, Gisella, Matías Valdés and Los Totora, as well as the traditional Fiesta del Barro where artisans burned clay pieces to revive regional identity.

During the Bienal, Argentine goldsmith Juan Carlos Pallarols presented the sculpture “Rosa de la Paz,” crafted from war‑projectile material. The piece will be auctioned to fund the restoration of native Chaco forests. Police deployed a 600‑officer operation to secure the fairgrounds, and three individuals demanding up to 30,000 pesos for parking were detained.
