Chad military reports 100 km incursion from Sudan

The Chadian military has denounced a significant incursion by belligerents from the Sudanese conflict into Chadian territory. According to an official statement, aerial bombardments were detected in the Ennedi Est province near the border on Thursday, August 20, around 8:00 PM, specifically within the Mourdi department.

Following reconnaissance conducted via aerial and ground assets, the Chadian General Staff confirmed that aircraft and drones, potentially belonging to the Sudanese Armed Forces or their allies, pursued and bombed a column of vehicles. This incursion reportedly extended more than 100 kilometers into Chadian territory.

While no Chadian casualties have been reported, the military has strongly condemned this “new violation of the country’s territorial integrity.” In response, Chadian defense and security forces have raised their alert level to the maximum to protect national sovereignty and prevent the Sudanese conflict from spilling further across the 1,000-kilometer border.
