Chad reaffirms neutrality in Sudan conflict at UN
During the 63rd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Chad reaffirmed its position of neutrality regarding the ongoing conflict in Sudan. The Chadian government has faced recurring accusations of providing logistical support to the Sudanese Rapid Support Forces, claims which N’Djamena has firmly rejected.
The conflict has created a massive humanitarian crisis for its neighbor. Chad currently hosts more than 900,000 Sudanese refugees, placing significant pressure on the country’s eastern border regions, including local access to water, healthcare, education, and land.
In its address to the UN, Chad called for an immediate cessation of hostilities, the protection of civilians, and unhindered access for humanitarian aid. The government emphasized the importance of respecting Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, while advocating for a durable and inclusive political solution to end the violence.
