Chad strengthens humanitarian and development coordination

In Chad, government officials and international organizations are coordinating to integrate humanitarian aid, peacebuilding, and sustainable development through the Nexus approach. In the Ouaddaï province, acting provincial council president Ilyas Haroun Matar led a meeting with humanitarian and development agencies to harmonize interventions and address structural vulnerabilities.

Simultaneously, Chad’s Minister of Environment, Hassan Bakhit Djamous, met with the new resident representatives of the World Food Programme (WFP) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). The discussions focused on strengthening environmental resilience and managing natural resources to mitigate the impact of climate shocks on displaced persons and host communities. Both initiatives aim to move beyond emergency response toward long-term stability and food security.
