An airstrike near the Chad-Sudan border has resulted in at least 12 deaths and seven injuries. According to security sources, the strike targeted a market in the vicinity of Antchong, where the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) were reportedly procuring fuel.

Chadian authorities and the United States have attributed the attack to the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF). The U.S. Embassy in Khartoum issued a condemnation regarding the recent strikes on Chadian territory.

The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has denied responsibility, expressing surprise at the accusations and calling for professional verification of the incident. Sudan has also accused neighboring Chad and Ethiopia of providing support to the RSF, allegations which both governments deny.

This incident follows a reported drone strike last week in the same region that resulted in no casualties. Amidst the ongoing conflict between the SAF and RSF, which has caused a massive humanitarian crisis, the U.S. has recently proposed extending the UN arms embargo to include the entire Darfur region to prevent further regional escalation.
