Chainlink integrates S&P Global Ratings risk assessments onchain

Chainlink has launched an integration to publish S&P Global Ratings’ Vault Risk Assessments (VRA) onchain, beginning with the Base blockchain. This initiative aims to provide institutional and decentralized finance (DeFi) services with independent risk analysis for lending vaults.

The integration utilizes Chainlink DataLink and the Chainlink Runtime Environment (CRE) to coordinate the retrieval and publication of data via a decentralized oracle network. The VRA provides a forward-looking opinion on the relative risk of asset impairment within a lending vault. This analysis covers portfolio credit quality, liquidity mismatches, and risks related to curators, blockchains, protocols, security, and governance.

S&P Global Ratings notes that lending vault deposits grew from approximately $1.5 billion two years ago to roughly $10 billion in September 2026. S&P clarifies that the VRA is not a traditional credit rating and does not evaluate yield levels, nor does it guarantee principal or eliminate all risks.
