Chalkida municipal utility repairs multiple sewage pipe failures

The Municipality of Chalkida's water and sewage utility (D.E.Y.A.X.) is conducting urgent repairs following four consecutive sewage pipe failures on central roads. Works include the full replacement of 60 meters of pressure pipes at the intersection of Venizelou and Pharmakidou streets, and the replacement of 22 meters of gravity pipe on Giardini Street.

Additionally, the utility is replacing 35 meters of pipes on Pharmakidou Street to prevent future issues, with completion expected by the end of August. Following the incidents, microbiological sampling at Chalkida Beach showed no exceedance of safety parameters. The Port Authority has requested the Euboea Regional Unit's Health Department to conduct additional testing.
