Chalkidiki: 17-year-old student dies after cardiac arrest

A 17-year-old student from Pefkochori, Chalkidiki, has died after suffering a cardiac arrest outside his school on Friday, September 18.

Emergency services and medical personnel performed approximately 50 minutes of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and administered seven defibrillations in an attempt to save the teenager. Although he briefly regained a cardiac rhythm, he suffered subsequent arrests. He was eventually transferred to Hippokrateio Hospital in Thessaloniki, where he was treated in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit.

Despite intensive medical efforts to stabilize his condition, including managing hemodynamic instability and cerebral edema, the student passed away on the morning of Sunday, September 20. An investigation into the exact circumstances and causes of the cardiac arrest is expected to follow.
