Chalkidiki: 17-year-old student dies after cardiac arrest at school

A 17-year-old student has died following a cardiac arrest at his school in Pefkochori, Chalkidiki. The incident occurred on Friday morning when the teenager collapsed in the school courtyard.

Emergency responders, including a local doctor and EKAV paramedics, performed approximately 50 minutes of resuscitation efforts, including seven uses of a defibrillator. Despite briefly regaining a heart rhythm, the student suffered subsequent cardiac arrests during transport to Hippokrateio Hospital in Thessaloniki, where he was treated in critical condition before passing away on Sunday morning.

The Greek Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports has expressed its condolences to the family and announced that psychologists and social workers will be deployed to the school on Monday to support students and staff. An investigation into the circumstances of the incident is underway.
