Chandigarh Police foil terror plot with IED and weapon recovery

Chandigarh Police have foiled a suspected terror plot following the recovery of an improvised explosive device (IED) and firearms near the Sector-43 Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT). The suspicious materials were found in an area behind the bus stand.

Three suspects, residents of the Tarn Taran and Amritsar districts in Punjab, were arrested during the operation. Authorities reported that the suspects were allegedly acting under instructions from a handler associated with Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) based abroad.

Recovered items include approximately 5 kg of gelatin stick explosives, a detonator, a power source, a remote-controlled system, a pistol, a magazine, and five live cartridges. One report noted the IED was concealed inside a tiffin box and was successfully defused.

An FIR has been registered at Police Station 36, and an investigation is ongoing to identify the full network and the source of the explosives. Security has been heightened in the Sector-43 area, and police have urged the public to remain calm and report any suspicious activity.
