Changdeokgung and Deoksugung to host history programs for youth

The National Heritage Administration's Royal Palaces and Tombs Center, in collaboration with ‘Uri Munhwa Sumgyeol’, will host the ‘2026 Palace Youth Culture School’ on September 19 and 20. The program is designed for elementary school students in grades 3 through 6, focusing on the history of the Joseon Dynasty and the Korean Empire.

On September 19, activities will take place at Changdeokgung Palace, featuring programs such as ‘Find the King’s Symbols! Changdeokgung Expedition’ for younger students and ‘Donggwoldo Architecture Mystery Team’ for older students. On September 20, the program moves to Deoksugung Palace, with sessions titled ‘Plum Blossoms Blooming in Deoksugung’ and ‘Gojong’s Personal Letter, Lighting Up Jungmyeongjeon again’.

Participation is free, but students must apply through an online lottery held between September 1 and September 4. Each session is limited to 40 participants. While the program is free, guardians are responsible for their own palace entrance fees.
