South Korean palace history education programs

Overview

Various historical and cultural education programs focusing on the Joseon Dynasty and the Korean Empire are being organized at major palaces in South Korea.

In Seocho-gu, the Yangjae Library is launching a humanities program titled ‘Reading the Life and Power of Joseon through Palaces’. Running from September to November, the initiative combines academic lectures with field visits to Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung palaces to explore royal authority, diplomacy, and the lives of officials and commoners.

Additionally, the National Heritage Administration’s Royal Palaces and Tombs Center is hosting the ‘2026 Palace Youth Culture School’ in mid-September. This program targets elementary school students through activities at Changdeokgung and Deoksugung palaces, featuring themed expeditions and sessions on architecture and historical figures.
