Changhua County breaks ground on multi-functional social welfare building

The Changhua County Government has held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Xiabu Multi-functional Social Welfare and Long-term Care Building in Changhua City. The project has a total budget of approximately 236 million TWD, funded by a combination of central government subsidies and local county funds.

The four-story facility is designed with an intergenerational care concept to serve residents from ages 0 to 100. The building will feature a community activity center on the first floor, a childcare center for 60 infants on the second floor, and a facility for early intervention and the ‘Changhua Dream Hall’ for women's welfare on the third floor. The fourth floor will house a day care center for 48 elderly individuals with disabilities or dementia, operated by the Shiu-Ho Foundation.

This project is part of a broader initiative by the county to address low birth rates and an aging population through the establishment of 18 intergenerational long-term care buildings. The facility is expected to be completed and operational in 2028.
