Changhua County celebrates indigenous culture and traditional crafts

Changhua County is hosting several cultural events to celebrate indigenous heritage and traditional craftsmanship. On August 29, the county will hold the Indigenous Peoples' Day and Cultural Festival at the Changhua County Stadium. This year's celebration holds historical significance following the official recognition of the Siraya people as Taiwan's 17th indigenous group.

The festival will feature traditional ceremonies, clothing exhibitions, and dance competitions involving approximately 450 participants from various ethnic groups. The event aims to promote cultural diversity and provide a platform for the local indigenous community to share their stories through music and dance.

In a separate cultural initiative, the Changhua County Government has officially certified two masters of intangible cultural heritage. Chen Wen-chun has been recognized for his expertise in traditional architectural painting, and Huang Yen-lin has been honored for his skills in large-scale carpentry (Da Mu Zuo). Both masters have significant experience in restoring historical monuments and temples, and both are actively involved in teaching younger generations to ensure the continuity of these traditional crafts.
