Changhua County Enhances School Lighting and Launches Children Growth Camp

The Changhua County Government held a ceremony on July 13 at Dacun Township’s Village Upper Elementary School to showcase the completion of its school lighting upgrade program. Since 2023, the county has invested nearly NT$5 billion to improve lighting in 5,011 classrooms across 211 schools, including both ordinary and specialized rooms. The project was funded jointly by the county and a contribution from the TSMC Charity Foundation, which helped replace old fixtures with energy‑saving LEDs to support students’ eye health and learning conditions.

On the same day, Changhua City Office opened the upgraded "Children Happy Growth Camp" at the Elderly Cultural Center. Targeting low‑income and single‑parent families, the camp offers free tutoring, foreign‑language lessons (English, Japanese) and extracurricular activities such as biology insect observation and dance. Two sessions will host 30 children each, with meals provided by fast‑food vendors. The initiative builds on a tutoring program that began in 2000 and aims to boost the competitiveness of disadvantaged students during the summer break.
