Changhua County expands elderly care and volunteer recognition
Changhua County is expanding its social welfare and elderly care initiatives. County Magistrate Wang Hui-mei recently honored 162 outstanding volunteers for their long-term dedication to supporting vulnerable groups, including the elderly, people with disabilities, and children. This recognition aligns with the ‘2026 International Year of Volunteer Development’ goals of promoting social inclusion and community resilience.
In addition to volunteer recognition, the county has established its 382nd community care center at the Haifeng Community Development Association in Ershui Township. This expansion is part of a broader goal to ensure every village in Changhua has a care center to provide nutrition, exercise, and health services to seniors in their own neighborhoods.
To further support elderly and disabled residents, the county is upgrading the ‘Evergreen Happiness Card’ benefits. Starting August 1, the card will include subsidies for national fitness centers, covering swimming and gym sessions. From October 1, new benefits will allow for discounts at contracted farmers and fisheries associations.
