Changhua County hosts 2026 Mazu Blessing Culture Festival

The 2026 Changhua County Mazu Blessing Culture Festival is currently underway, featuring a large-scale religious procession involving 13 temples. The event, centered around the Fangyuan Putian Temple, includes a joint pilgrimage where Mazu palanquins and performance troupes move through the streets, with local residents setting up altars to offer prayers.

Cultural performances are a key component of the festival. The Ming Hwa Yuan Opera Troupe performed the classic piece ‘The Prince’s Revenge’ at Fangyuan Putian Temple, blending traditional opera with modern stage aesthetics. Additionally, the Taiwan Acrobatics Group presented ‘Taiwanese Nostalgia,’ a performance combining folk acrobatics, martial arts, and dance to depict the history of early settlers in Taiwan.

The festival also includes various interactive activities, such as industry markets, stamp collecting tours, and themed board games. A joint blessing ceremony is scheduled to use divination blocks to determine the host temples for the years 2027 through 2033, ensuring the continuity of the tradition.
