Chania, Greece to host Festum π and 14th Chamber Music Festival in July–August 2026

The Festum π festival returns to Chania from 26 July to 2 August 2026, offering free open‑air events that blend mathematics, music, poetry, climate‑change discussions and artificial intelligence. Highlights include a discussion between MIT professor Konstantinos Daskalakis and Fields‑Medalist mathematician Cédric Villani on 26 July, concerts by the piano duo Katia & Marielle Labèque on 31 July and 1 August, performances by the New Cretan Quartet and the Festum π Quartet, and a climate‑change and AI workshop on 31 July. The festival closes with a lecture and concert by AI‑music researcher François Pachet on 2 August.

From 23 August to 4 September 2026, Chania will also hold the 14th Chamber Music Festival under the theme “Dialogues through Time.” The programme spans two centuries of repertoire, featuring works by Mozart, Beethoven, Weber, Mendelssohn, Brahms and 20th‑century composers such as Bartók, Shostakovich and contemporary Finnish composer Olli Mustonen. International artists include Italian pianist Enrico Pace, violinists Veriko Tchumburidze, Roman Simović, Josef Špaček and many others, with a special performance by violinist Giorgos Demerj .
