Multiple Fatal Motorcycle Accidents Sweep Brazil in Late July 2026
A series of deadly motorcycle accidents occurred across Brazil in the last days of July 2026. Two friends, Roberto de Jesus Matos and Ricardo Brito Ferreira, were killed when their Honda CG 150 Titan collided head‑on with a Chevrolet D20 truck on the BA‑026 highway on 25 July. In Formiga, Minas Gerais, a Chevrolet S10 truck struck a motorcyclist after a traffic dispute, leaving the rider with multiple leg fractures and requiring surgery. On the same day in Içara, the couple Cristian Bittencourt Esmeraldino and Maria Eduarda Muraro da Cruz died while travelling to the Romaria dos Motociclistas, after their Suzuki collided with a Yamaha on BR‑101; the crash also injured three other motorcyclists. In Santa Catarina, six separate motorcycle crashes between 18 and 19 July caused seven deaths in locations including São Miguel do Oeste, Maracajá, Três Barras, Criciúma, Tubarão, Tijucas and Abelardo Luz.
